When I got my jeep I noticed a brief squeal when I turn the wheel. Belt seems tight and in good shape. Could this be the power steering pump? This would be a good time to fix since its torn apart. I'm running 33 tires, thought they might be too big for the pump.

If there is fluid in it, probably still not tight enough. If you remember as a kid, cars were always squealing, they PS belt had to be real tight to not get that.

Fluid level is good. The squeal only happened with the first 10 degrees of turn. Can the pump be upgraded to something bigger? Would there be a benefit

Sorry man,I wouldn't know, I still have mine. It squealed when I got it 4 or so years ago and I put some elbow grease on it, and it has not done since. Doesn't mean you don't have some other prob but it may work for ya.

It might need a new belt.
