Iv read a lot of forums on doing this but my question is.. np435 mated to a Dana 20 in a 79cj5. I bought the twin stick and was wondering if any length adjustments have to be made in order for the sticks to be in the right position.. any help? I know guys have done it. Thanks!
Oh, the jeep is being rebuilt and nothing is mounted. Curiousity strikes again.

What twin stick setup did you buy?

I got the Novak kit part number TX20-CJ2SC and description CJ Style Dana 20 to the T-150 3-speed Transmission found in the 1976-1979 Jeep CJ with stock shifter right up against the Transfer Case .

I wasn't sure if this one was the right one or I needed the twin stick for the T-18 part number TX20-CJL

Mine is from Don's (no longer available), so I'm no help:

My sticks are shorter than the one's from Novak.

It's a Ford T-18 , mid-80's vintage out of a 2wd truck. My 76 CJ5 had the Jeep T-18 with the 4.02 1st gear and I want lower gearing. I gutted out the Jeep T-18 for the mainshaft, and only had to purchase the adapter plate for the Transfer Case .

Oh good deal! How do you like the lower granny gear now?

You do need to make sure that you have the linkage adjusted properly. If you do not do this, you could end up jamming the gears, ie, one axle in high range, and the other in low. The way I did mine was to put the Transfer Case in neutral, put both shifters in neutral position, and then adjust the linkages to fit into the shift lever holes on the Transfer Case . Once this is done, check that the levers are still parallel to each other in neutral, and that the output shafts of your Transfer Case don't rotate when you turn the input shaft. You can also turn each output shaft separately. You should not see any rotation of the other one when this is done. If your linkage has jam nuts, don't forget to tighten them once the linkage is aligned.

Pretty much useless on the street. Great for crawling over things when combined with the TeraLow 3.15 gears and 4.56 axles.
