u joint angle

also should both pinnions be pointed up? i know these are strange questions but since i put my lift on i have been concerned about the way everything ended up thanks

so what i get fom that is around 15 degress is best but dont think my driveshaft was that flat before the lift ? anybody else know what there angle is? thanks just trying to compare but thank you for the link it is exactly what i was looking for

Wish I could tell you before angles, I'm setting my CJ up for new CV's... I'm sure some one will chime in soon... :)

with what i get out of that we all need cv's but i didnt drive the cj home tonight so i will have to measure everything in the morning

I don't know what size lift you put on, but I have a 4" on my CJ7 , and still have the stock driveshaft. I am just starting to get some vibs. (bad joint) after 13,000 hard miles.
I will try to measure the angle for you tomorrow.
It's probally more angle than Mr. Woods would like to see. :D

ok thanks guys i put a 4 inch lift and i think i have something going on becuse my rear pinion is pointed up just a little becuse the wedges that are on the rear springs this was a used lift so i wonder if the wedges are suposed to be there i have about 500 miles it since the lift and have had no problems but it still doesnt look right to me if that makes sence

Most if not all of the 4" kit rear springs have the "wedges"

ok so when the tom wood site says for regular u joints the pinion should be horizontel that is not a big ? dont get me wrong as long as it works works i dont care if the pinion is upside down lol

Tom knows what he's talking about. The wedges are really a compermise. probably not enough for a cv joint, but without them the angle would be to great for the stock shaft.
With them it's pointed wrong and you will go though joints quicker than if it was set up correctly.
The corerect way would be his way with a cv joint.;)

the wedges are a crutch to allow you to run your stock type drive shaft without to many problems :chug:

Just went out and checked mine, the rear is 16*

so i checked mine today and my rear is not as bad as i thought it is only 12. So i guess im fine i was just freaked out a little, but it seams all is good. So i put all new u joints in today since i was already messing with them so i should be good foe awhile and are stock driveshafts spicer ?
