no not the jokes around here, your yokes.

I always wanted to write this but I found a picture Cj had posted in his tech article about breaking loose yoke nuts and decided to just go for it

so, if you run early Cjs you know of the really small U Joints we have and often times find they can be hard to source.
and if you are going do any diff work, then it can be time to swap these out for larger stronger more modern sizes.
but you have to swap out the yokes and get a new drive shaft.

that is not all that hard, I know a new shaft can cost money but the strength alone in the larger U joint is worth the money. As is the ability to change out a U joint quickly because you have the part right there.

I had mine swapped in my T case when I had it rebuilt and swapped out the ones on my diffs before measuring for a new shaft.
I then got the length of the shaft at full compression, at rest, and at full expansion and brought it to the drive shaft shop to have anew one made.
I used the size of U joint used in a TJ, I figure those would be easy to source for years to come.
New seals to stop leakage, and you are done.

anyway when finished I have a lot more faith in my U Joints than I had before the mods, and I bought the Yokes from my local Jeep shop.

Good luck, this one is worth doing and few guys think of it.:chug:
