upper ball joint

i just pressed in a new moog upper ball joint with a side grease zurk 80 CJ5 . the instuctions said to point the zurk towards the rear of vehicle. after pressing the joint into place i don't have room to screw the zurk in or get a grease gun on it. can i take a die grinder and clear the steering nuckle without compromising any strength in the steering knuckle. any help would be appreciated.

Cutting into structural componets has its draw backs. I think you should go for a plan B. Like trying different zerks and reducing the outside diameter of the lube gun nozzle. Would installing the ball joint in a different location work? Lube guns do have needle inserts also. Another thought would be to move the location of the zerk to where you can get at it and plug the original hole without damaging the unit. Good luck with that.
