Urethane bushing install

I bought a urethane bushing kit with greasable bolts. Any feedback re how to best get the shackles off of the existing springs and , put the new bushings in? Any feedback from folks that have done this mod and if it was worth the $$ would also be appreciated. I just had the steering box replaced-that helped quite a bit!

Re: Urethane bushing install

To get the spring shackles off you will have to take the load off the springs first. This is done by lifting the frame up while the wheels are still on the ground, if that makes sense. Then the spring shackle bolts can be removed when the frame is up high enough to take the spring pressure off them. The bushings can be pried out and the front spring bushings are narrower than the rear. Use lots of grease for installation and tighten the bolts down enough so that the spring shackles still rotate. I would think that there would be a "You Tube" demonstration in this.

What he ^ said. Make sure you use compatible grease for poly, like lubrathane.
