Hello Everybody I am new to CJ.com. My new Project that was given to me by my neighbor is a 69 CJ5 with the dautlet V6 and a fiberglass body. Jeep is in great shape but has been sitting for about 13 years.so the under seat gas tank is rotted out.

My first Question is what is the difference between the 4 cyl. tank and the V6 tank.

Thanks For any input :chug:

not that I am aware of
and I own 2 V6 cjs

I wonder if they are different for a reason we can understand? I know the Military version of the CJ5 has a bigger tank, and when the tank was put in the rear it got a lot larger, but the tank in a 4 or 6 popper are the same. seems strange that we have the same tank and same instruments yet different senders. WOW there is so much to learn about each detail will I ever get to know it all?

I have a great idea!! How about we start an internet thing, we could call it a forum or something and we could get together and discuss our addiction in a calm rational way and exchange information and just, you know, hang out?? And then if we had a problem we would have about a brazillion years of experience to tap into.

What do you think?:grinjeep:

Sure but first we need a great leader, some southern okie for sure. must be able to sing both Lynard and the man in lack sings while pulling a CJ I-6 with his hands and tuning a flat fender with his toes. But where would we find someone like this? GA?

Ga is the only place such a man could come from as far as I know. I think it's something to do with being where the mountain meets the swamp and the white tail being the size of small german shepards and I am sure red clay plays a part as well.

<------- GA boy also, LOL.
Also the last white tail I killed had to be pulled up with a truck to skin.

Back to the original post.
My buddy has a '69 he replaced his tank with a poly tank.
His advise is don't cheap out on the poly tank some MFG are better
than others. If you buy a cheapy you'll have leak issues around the cap.
