looking for tips on stopping plastic valve cover from leaking. Anyone have good luck with a certain gasket?

Fel-Pro usually gets the credit for being the best gasket. I would suggest a good sealant on all contact surfaces and cleaning them will help them adhere. I can't remember when I last installed my plastic oem valve cover. Somewhere around 20 years or so, it is probably ready for a replacement.

Troxhead Thanks for your reponse. I'm using a Fel-Pro currently, I guess the problem is the valve cover has that "channel" in it. The OEM cylinder head & the OEM valve cover don't match up very well in the first place. The gasket I'm using (cork) almost seems like it's the wrong one. Part guy tells me its the correct gasket though. Has anyone else had this issue, is there another gasket style that will fit the valve cover better?

1.Clean surfaces with foaming spray glass cleaner.

2.Use weather strip adhesive to glue a CORK gasket to the cover. Allow to dry overnight.

3.Apply a thin bead of ultra black silicone to cork and head.

4.Gently FINGER tighten bolts.

The plastic valve covers are prone to leaking and look cheap. We kept an eye on eBay until we were able to pick up a cast aluminum version for a decent price. They are much easier to keep sealed.

First-make sure you have the correct PCV valve installed. Make sure the valve is clean.
I have had very good luck with Permatex liquid form a gasket sealer on a new gasket.
Do not exceed 10 ft/lbs of torque on the overhead bolts that hold the v'cover in place.
