Just bought a mostly retored CJ6 and it had power steering . The steering is much tto light and sensitive and has no 'road feel whatsoever'. Are there any adjustments I can make to improve?
Power steering is an engineered thing for every vehicle and when we go and upgrade an old CJ with a box out of a camaro and pump from something else I think that is gona happen. I'm no CJ6 expert but I think they originaly had the Ross steering gear with connecting rod to a bellcrank on the front cross member that the tie rods conect to, Far from engineered power steering. Don't have any answers that will help but do make sure your geometry is correct with regard to toe and caster as they would contribute to steering problems you mentioned.

Thanks for advice and I will be checking clearances, tightness and geometry of the steering asap( . Also got some good receommendations from elsewhere on the site after reading a few threads..incl best to have about 1/8in toe-in.
