I know I have spoken with some of you fellow CJ enthusiasts and some have even asked me about using the same guy I did to get some of my CJ work done. Here's the background story:

While I was deployed in Iraq back in 09-10, I decided to get myself an "I Love Me" gift. I asked all around, did the proper research, and all signs pointed to McComsey's Jeep Shop. While home on R&R (mid-tour leave), I made the 4 hour trek to his shop and we struck a deal. He promised me no more than 6 months and he will have a CJ as pristine as the day it rolled off the line. Sounded great, I had the dream CJ enroute to my driveway. I return from Iraq, and he asked for a litle more time.....No problem, make it good, make it right, can't wait. This continued monthly for an additional 9 months. When I arrived for the final and very last chance I would have to pik it up (enroute from my vacation to my new home in Tenessee), he tells me he screwed up and that it was a 77 and not an 85.... Not a big deal since to me, even more classic. Yet still, he was not done and was putting final touches on......I gave him one hour. In the extra 9 months he requested, he half-a$$ed everything and simply threw it together in order to run long enough that I wouldn't bother him. He knew I was in a hurry and was a patient guy, and took advantage of that. Since then, I have been redoing and doing correctly what he failed to do. In other words, I am back to square one and may as well have built it myself to begin with. Buyers beware, McComsey's Jeep Shop's quality has significantly dropped and I would not recommend it to anyone interested in a clean CJ.

I feel your pain man. I'm glad ur back from the desert. Hopefully you will be able to get it all straightened out.

Good luck

Yes good to have you back!
Let us know if you need any parts for it, many of us have plenty of spare inventory we could share.

Glad your back.
How did you end up with a T-4 in a 77 CJ??
Do you have a 77 or an 85??

That's a helluva way to treat America's finest. I sir, thank you for your service. There is a lot of good gear heads here with minds like steel traps. Speak up if ya' need some advice.

Thanks everyone. With the laundry list of things that need done, I just happened upon a 77CJ5 with a new chevy 350 in it. If the orginal "buyer" doesnt show by tomorrow, then the owner is willing to make a trade. So at this point, who knows, it may all work out in the end. Thanks again for everyone's support.

Be very sceptical please! If he is willing to trade for yours what could be so good about his v8 moded Jeep?
Does it over heat? does everything work? what does the conversion look like? wiring clean and tidy?
Some help from Longhorn and others who run chev. V8's for things to look for?

The engine itslef is extremely clean and fires up right away. Of course it sounds great since it is a chevy 350. Since it wasn't technically for sale yet, I wasn't able to drive it to see how it shifts. The transfe case seems a little loose where the distance between 4Lo-N-2Hi-4-Hi seems a little far. Maybe i'm not used to the older style but thats the only thing I could find "wrong" with it.

Why does he want yours? Maybe it's all good and I'm playing devils advocate for no nothing? The sound of that chev. a hard thing to ignore isn't it!
