Hi to all....One more time I need help from the fellow's from the forum
any one know how hard or easy is replace a water pumpo in a CJ7 ??/
thank you for your time..
Andrea

Just loosen up the accessories, remove the belts, remove the fan, remove the bolts holding the pump in place, pull the pump, clean the gasket surfaces, replace with the appropriate sealer and reverse the disassembly. :)

It takes longer to drain and pull the radiator.

Can you share the procedure/tip to remove the Wp fan please. Do you need a special wrench for fan? I know she is reverse thread.

CJs arent reverse threaded that wasnt invented till after we got fuel injection..... to remove the fan loosen the 4 bolts that hold it to the water pump then loosen the belt and it will come off...it took me longer to type this than it will take you to remove it :chug:

One issue when it comes to removing the fan is when you turn the nuts the whole waterpump shaft tries to turn. Then you can't grab the fan because the fan clutch turns. Here's what I do: I loosen the nuts for the fan before I remove the fan belts. This is what gert was talking about. That way the fan belts help hold the pulleys and water pump as you turn the nuts. Just loosen the nuts. Once the nuts are loose and you know you can remove them the rest of the way you can remove the belts.
After the belts are removed then you can remove the water pump. Oh, did I mention removing the coolant? That should be the first step or you will have antifreeze everywhere.
You will also have to remove the bracket for the alternator.
Before installing the new water pump make sure you scrap all the old gasket off the engine block. Install new gasket and water pump.

Either Gert is a very slow typer or I am a very slow mechanic. Either way this should be an easy job. Let us know if you have any trouble.
