cj7 1986, built from three others.
I've got a 1986 CJ7 ...its black...I am going nuts trying to find a good stand-out color that I can add some ghost flames to. kids want Blue, but I will be using a one stage paint, so the color quality I don't thing will work well. I was thinking of yellow, like a camaro yellow, but are having a hard time finding something that will look goodI will be using a one stage paint because I will be going through the bush, so it will aventually require a repaint. But I want to make it a looker....Anyways any advice or photos would be great...got it in parts, doing some bodywork and will need to paint as soon as the cold weather leaves. Or sooner I got to get out on the trails....

Antifreeze Green with gray ghost flames. Colors are really a very personal choice. Dont feel bad if I just made you throw up in your mouth a little. :D

Not sure how familiar you are with other sites but another one of my favorites is on a guys CJ7 here in Pa. He goes by Cjinpa on alot of sites and its an awesome copper type color. You really have to see it to appreciate it.

I like the heavy equipment colors, Mine is Caterpillar Highway yellow. not a great picture it was pretty dirty.

I personally think the yellow idea is great
both my CJs are yellow, one is factory yellow and the other is the most obscene color of brighter than a lemon on steroids doing a drunk Yellow, and I love it. Sticks out in a crowd fast.

Anything but red, there is already to many red jeeps :D

Can't respond to the color part other than The vast majority seem to be red or yellow around here.
As for the paint itself though..I just did mine using PPG CLV single stage epoxy and it is AMAZING paint! Easy to use other than the breathing hazards. Super glossy, looks like it was clear coated and very durable as well as being an excellent rust preventative. The bad part is in Ca. it was outlawed after Jan. 1 and it cost $570 a gallon.

Is it to the point that you can only use water base in calif. now?? I know it is on the horizon.

Not quite yet but someday I suppose.
The stuff I used was pretty toxic though and it was a must to wear a resperator and suit to not hasten your CRS symtoms.:D

that yellow on the 67 is one of the new environmental friendly paints. I do have issues with them, but you know we are on the cutting edge here, just look at the fact that in November we are going legalize pot so we can tax it.

Are you actually going to vote on it?

on the November ballot, all poles os far see it has 56% support, I guess the biggest support comes from the older crowd. LOL

I heard they want to only allow Hemp-oil Based paints. It will also worsen chronic CRS.:p

I will be painting mine matte black or flat black whatever you want to call it I think it will make it stand out once I get a few gloss black items on it.:chug:

When Bubba asks me why I didn't camo it I tell him that animals are color blind and the day may come when I want to be found!:D

Hello I found Cjinpa and will try to send him an e-mail....that looks like a great copper color...I'm looking to do a one stage paint. The price is the big thing but I also the ease of the job.

I'm still leaning to a yellow, but I the color itself is the dilemma. There are a lot of yellows that make you want to throw up....LOL and I do want it to look good....as far as lime green....I like that idea too...its ugly enough to be just right....lol

And you still have to find seats that match or at least don't clash too bad with the new color. I let my GF pick out the seat colors and I may regret it. orange and red seats with a yellow jeep, it will either look very good or very bad. we will see.

lifsavr.............Tell me more about what you got in mind there...I also had thought of doing a gun metal grey/blk with some gost flames...what are you plans and what procedure and paint will you be using?

Don't worry about hijacking....no biggie....I would be very surprised if the USA legalizes before Canada....but its a start....

And Just to let you know the best comes from British Columbia Canada, or so I've heard;)
