I'm trying to figure out what lift the PO put on this jeep.and a little direction on some other stuff.Unfortunately he won't return my call.No body lift on it. But it does have 33's that are very close to the fender wells in the back. And the springs do not sit directly under neath the frame rails in the front. They are pushed towards the outside so the shackles look crooked. It drives ok on the road though, little to no steering issues.Height to the bottom of the tub between the tires is 24".My max speed is about 55 miles per hour on the highway.According to the tag on the front diff.it has 2 sets of numbers, 3-31 and 43-13.Where do i start? thanks for the help in advance!!!

well we need pics to start with, sounds like he did a spring swap of some sort but will need to see pics :chug:

3:31 would be your gear ratio. 43-13 would also be your gear ratio 43 divided by 13 is 3:307 or so rounded up to 3:31. Your springs not being under the frame only in the front and splayed shackles sounds a lot like shot bushings. they are still mounted in the stock hangers on the frame right?

^^This^^

Sounds good I'll try to get some pics up.As far as the gearing goes will 4.11 get me a little more top end? And after going through the sticky on "what lift do i have i'm pretty sure its 4".I got 15.5 to the middle of the hub and 24" to top of body mount by drivers foot. sound about right? I did find a made in canada stamping on the spring but no other #'s.after reading some other posts on the sight it sounds like like i need to see if I have the solid axles or not and take care of the gearing and axles in one shot.

is there anything special I need to know about how to post pictures? sorry, not to good and that kind of stuff……thanks!

yes, they are still in the stock hangers, but it is an after market shackle and it looks like its wider? I'll try to get some pics,I'm kinda new here(if you couldn't tell)but everyone on this website has helped me so much since i bought this jeep I have no idea where i'd be without you guys! thanks:notworthy::chug:

Looks like a 1.5" HD lift shackle to me. Also you may have a small 2.5" spring lift too but hard to tell. Are there any numbers on the leaf spring themselves? Also do the spring bushings look to be rubber or polyurethane?
The taller the lift shackles the more likely you are to have that leaning or tilted look to the shackles. Also the taller they are the more issues they cause with your steering as they rotate the front axle forward.
Have any more pictures?
Thanks,
Bobby

i've looked everywhere on the springs the only thing i can find is a made in canada stamp. The shackles to me appear to be too wide and the bushings are a red polyurethane.Ive been looking at the 4"BDS lift and swapping out with what i have. After a lot of reading on the forum I would probably go with little or no shackle lift.It really bugs me when i look at those shackles.Any advice on some good shackles?:chug:

Those appear to be the Con-Ferr brand spring shackle, and are 3 3/4" from bolt center to bolt center, which would be 1" longer than oem. It also appears as one of the bushings on the lower bolt is either well worn or the wrong type, requiring the bolt to be tightened down a bit too much. The springs could be twisted a bit causing the tilt in the spring shackle, or worn out bushings. How about a full Jeep picture also.
