Hey guys...still trying to narrow down what I'm going to do for a lift and tire combo...really want to cram some 33's under a 2.5" lift. Can you guys look at the picture of the shackle on my jeep and let me know what size it is? If those shackles along with 2.5" lift will accomodate some 33's? I'm being told that 32's are as big as I should go. I would love to see some pictures of 32" tires with only a 2.5" lift...so I can get a visual. thanks guys for all your help.

Stock shackles are 3" center of bolt to center of bolt.
So lets say yours are 5" (I have no idea by looking at a pic) than you would have a 1" lift ( half of the difference)
By the way if you go any bigger than a 1" shackel lift you will have caster problems.

Ok...thats good to know. Center of bolt to center of bolt is 4" so thats I guess 1/2" lift? ...so if I go 2.5" lift will get 3" total...so 33" tires be an issue with that set up? If not, then what do you feel is the best lift for the money? I've seen 2.5" Rancho lifts that look good with 33's. I don't want to get a 2.5" lift that is actually less (or more for that matter). EMU is too high for my budget. Would LOVE to go with Rough Country 2.5" if they are good...the reviews are all over. So????? You guys are the experts. thanks again.

I had 5 1/2" ConFerr shackles and an 1 1/2" add-a-leafs for years and ran 11x15 Tru-Tracs (32") with no problems (2 3/4" total lift). Then I switched the springs out for Rough Country 2 1/2" springs and ran 33x12.5 with no problems (3 3/4" total lift) except an occasional rub when the tire was jammed up on a full flex. Those RC springs wore out quick and I would not recommend them, you get what you pay for. Maybe take a look at BDS springs or even their conversion kit.
My current rebuild will have 2 1/2" OME springs, 1" shackles (5" bolt to bolt) and a 1" body lift built into the Daystar poly mounts and I'll still be running 33" tires. OME springs ran $98 a pc. for the heavier YJ wrangler rear springs and another $22 a spring for OME greasable bushings.
