If you were to get ready and rebuild your Jeep all over which way would you go? I am curious about other CJ owners preferences. I know I could have put alot of more choices but these are mainly the ones I am curios about and seems to be the way most people go on various Jeep sites.

Mine has always been somewhat stock looking as a mild offroader but leans now more towards the sleeper and with this winters plans I have will be pretty built to hell but with a very stock-ish look. I am even getting rid of the one piece front end that I have had for way too long. I might even drop the Jeep back down a couple inches.

I noticed there wasn't an option for those that don't even want to make their jeep street legal. People that are willing to trailer their jeep to the trails. Not that I would have selected it.
Here in Colorado there are such great trails that I want my jeep built for off-roading. I still want it street legal just enough so I can get it to the trails without a trailer.
For tires I want large aggressive bias ply. Bias ply has better flex to grip rocks and other terrain. That flex also makes them worse on road. They are also much louder.
I want a low CG. (I think my CJ5 is too high) I would prefer to cut the fenders rather than lift it high enough for clearance. Yes, it would no longer have the classic CJ fenders but since my CJ spends more time in the mountains than on the boulevards not many people will be looking at it anyway.
I don't need anti-sway bars. They are for street use. Sure, I have to take corners slower than other jeeps. If I wanted to go fast I would be on my Busa.
I want a soft top. Lower CG but I need something wen it rains.
I want big axles for piece of mind. On some of my favorite trails I worry about my axles. I would go up poughkeepsie gulch much more often if I had Dana 60s.

That is basically option three busadave.

That's what I picked. The third option is my ideal jeep. I also noticed I am the only one that picked it so far. I guess I am not as concerned about streetability as everyone else.

If I lived down the street from you I would be thinking the same way.

I used to live in Layton Utah and I had the same thought process as you back then with mutliple Moab Visits and lots of Mountain camping trips. Since I mived back to CT I have more street drivability in mind because of our "less agressive" trail systems. Lately my offroading has been zero so I am prefering a better in road ride knowing that the Jeep can always handle normal New Englad trails.

I just joined Dave and voted #3. I guess I could have chosen #2 also, as my body isn't cut up, but I do have a lift and tires so I really doesn't look stock.
I started out building a mostly street jeep, but it has gone the way of a trail jeep over the years. It's still very streetable but the closest trails are 60 miles away, with most being AMC 150 to 300 miles away. This means using a trailer to get there just in case of any breakdowns. Even with the trailer I still have to drive to get to the trails from camp, sometimes 20-30 miles.
Now I drive it to work once in a while, or into town on nice days, thats about it.

if only it was possible to have a section that would be an all of the above... i dont really see that manny jeeps i dont want other than the ugly jeep models like grand cherokee and the liberty ect

If my wife would let me I'd have one of each. As it is my one and only CJ is mildly built but still streetable.

There in lies the dilemma. :( Gotta have more than one.

I like a nice family cage, functional interior, stock looking body, but under that I want it built to the moon. I like to drive my jeep but would like the hardware to support driving it almost anwhere.
So I picked the resto mod.

Nice CJ8 , with either a diesel, or V-8, automatic, cut down Dana 60's, some large KM2's I'd be a happy guy.

The day may come when I have a full blown off road, good for nothing else, trailer queen jeep but right now I have just about enough time to work on what I have.

Mostly I prefer a Jeep that will start, get me where I'm going and get me back without any problems.

I do axle work, driveline work, give it a medium lift, medium tires but I do not do a lot of tricking out the body, I make the body sound but it ususally has paint and 2 colors of primer on it. I put in nice seats and design a bed racking system that changes from jeep to jeep.
I really just build them to trail ride and have fun.
Now saying all that My CJ6 is kind of a stocker as of now and I love it that way, but it will never be wheel hard, just to hard to find a good CJ6 anymore and that Jeep is mine till I die.

Same here.
I'm just happy to own a Jeep that runs/ran last time i tried.

Heavily Modded would be my choice. It would need to be street legal though. There have been occasions where I had to bypass areas, forcing me to take public roads, and being able to drive to your nearest offroad park and back without trailering it would be a must for me.

I like to drive my Jeeps both on and off road. I have offroaded all of the 7 I have owned.
