Does anyone know what the wheel stud knurl diameter is on a 79 Dana 30 ? I just installed 1 1/2" spacers, and although I achieved the required 8 turns on the spacer nuts, there is still about 3/8" more thread available. I would just feel better with longer studs that make full use of all the threads. I hate to have to pull the hubs apart and leave the Jeep sit until the new studs arrive in order to measure them.

Dont have the diameter info, but when one broke a few years back I went down to Napa for a new one. Maybe they (or other good parts store) could look it up and order longer for you?

Thought about that. I'm just lazy, and love to drive the Jeep now that it is finished, (at least for this season!) hence the not wanting to take it apart and wait for parts. Good idea though, I'll give em a call.

Oreilys has a book you can flip through to find the proper length and diameter. They were able to have mine in by the next morning, might have been sooner but I work nights.

I called several auto parts houses, but no one is able to look up studs based on dimensions. They all want to know what vehicle I have, and all that will get me is the stock stud. After browsing through over 60 pages of online parts house studs, I finally found the ones that will work. I feel so much better knowing that I now have full thread contact with lots of locktite on the studs!

Bass I was wondering why you installed the spacers? Is that because you have a narrow trac axels ?

I do have narrow trac axles, but that is not the reason I installed spacers. Although I hope to get a bit more stability, the primary reason for installing them is because when crawling rocks there is enough articulation of the axle that the tires rub the roll cage frame tie in's. The pictures are before the spacers.
