Had some new wheels put on a week or so ago, and was getting a little vibration at about 60 mph. Went on a little errand today, and fellow pulled up beside me and was pointing at the rear of the Jeep. I pulled over to see what might be falling off :D, and a young lady walked up and told me she had been behind me, and that my left rear wheel was wobbling. Just happened to be within a couple of blocks of the tire shop that installed the wheels, so pulled in to have them check it. Jacked it up, spun the wheel, and wobble. Lug nuts are all tight, and no bearing slop. Pulled the wheel, and the shop boss spotted the problem There are three small screws in the hub to hold it in place when the wheel is off. The screw heads were protruding enough to hold the inner face of the wheel slightly off the hub, so that when the lug nuts were tightened, the wheel was pulled a little out of true with the hub. Probably a function of poor manufacturing tolerances on the "CHINA" hubs the PO so graciously provided.
 
Those three screws are to hold the brake drum on I would say who ever installed the wheels should have seen they were loose and screwed them in tight. If they installed them it is there falt.
 
x2.. Could they have done the courtesy instepction of the rear shoes and didnt tighten em back up? With the original rims in place the screws cant back out so the only way they could have walked out is with the assistance of a screw driver.
 
No, they didn't loosen the screws. In fact, they had to use an impact screwdriver to get a couple of them out after finding the problem Not sure if my terminology is correct, but the area where the screw head meets the drum was not countersunk deep enough to allow the screw head to be flush with the drum surface. The steel wheels that were on there have a shallow channel where the lug studs go through, so the slightly protruding screw heads didn't come in contact with the wheel. The new aluminum wheels are totally flat where they contact the drum, so the wheel seated on the screw heads instead of the drum. The temporary fix was to remove the screws, since the drum can't come off with the wheel installed. Probably need to find some replacement drums.
