where?

dead and dying Jeep donors, and the advertisers at the top of this very page...

Mention jeepcj at checkout and get 10% off your orders! or something like that...

Agree on the dead/dying rigs. Look for people who have customized their rigs and have left over parts. Or got in over their heads and gave up.

lmao! A parts store :)

Ok, now I am just being a smartass

You must have better parts stores than around here. Or your rig is still basically stock.

Mine is an 83 CJ7 with a 75 AMC 401 with a GM ignition system. The parts store has the employees that can only look on a computer, so they get lost easily.

Craigslist is a good source also, but I have found that fellow Jeepers seems to be the way to go.

For me it is looking for used mostly as the others have said. (save sum cash)
If I'm going new (or used) I go to my local 4x4 shop, he is usually cheaper than the internet, and if it is the wrong part he is only a few miles away.:)
He also installs what he sells, soooo if I have problems with the install I can ask him about it.

I've the same engine setup, then add Dana 60's & a T-19. I've found it's best to spend time on the computer & have part#'s. If you can wait ,I think it better order on line to. Usually better prices.

Longhorn,
What's the difference between the T-18 and a T-19?

TVL,
Sorry for hijacking your thread :chug:

Syncros in all forward gears & a slightly different reverse idler setup.

Synchronized first gear?!?! Blasphemy I tell you, blasphemy.

I personally like the craigslist route. I have met some pretty good folks while looking for parts on there. Heck I found the jeep on there and traded for it with a guy that wasn't even looking for an old beat up boat. The other day I reponded to a craigslist post and it turns out the guy was only a couple of minutes from my job. I didn't really need anything he had but stopped by on my way home and ended up visiting with the guy for an hour. Ended up getting a speedo wiring harness, dimmer switch and some good info for all of 10 bucks. I have as much fun meeting new folks that enjoy tinkering around as anything else.

time to get to know your local junk yards:chug:

let google find things for you. sure i'm not the one to ask for oem replacement, but anything that is built to improve performance and the like is definately scattered across the web.

where do you guys get all of your jeep parts from???

For new hard to find parts I have used Quadratec 80% of the time and the rest I use 4WD.com, Napa, Auto Zone, Advance Auto.

But for cheap stuff/ Not made any more items I hit the Pick&Pull junk yards and Get real comfortable with my Welder and Sawzall!!

:) Does anyone know a better place to buy Jeep accessories for older models near Dallas. My Jeep is really starting to make trouble but I don't like to sell it right now. It is now more than 20 years old but still running satisfactorily.

I need to buy parts for it but for a reasonable price.
