I'm looking for all new seats and wanted to get everyone's opinion on which ones to get. I know it will come down to personal preference but wanted to see what everyone likes.

Thanks in advance

Most comfortable trail rides I've ever had!
Corbeau XRS baja suspension.

Mastercraft Nomads. everything they need to be. Replacable seat cover and layered foam rather than injection molded. img_1081.webp

I bought a pair of Steelhorse highbacks about 17 years ago:

Decent seats at a decent price. I'm running 3pt lap/shoulder belts.

IMHO: If you're thinking about running 4 or 5 pt harnesses you will want to get a seat designed for them.

Also, I would highly recommend cutting the inner fender to allow the driver side seat to slide fully back.

I can tell you one set not to get. Bestop stationary seats. Not only are they uncomfortable cause there's no adjustment, their kind of hard without any real support on the side bolsters.

I've got Corbeau JP Wide seats in mine and they've been good. They are and entry level suspension seat with a fairly low install height.

Wooly

I think like most decisions we make when it comes to modification or accessories to put on our Jeeps you have to ask the question, "What are you going to use it for?". Heavy off road needs lots of bolsters and good suspension. Daily driver maybe a more plan seat. It all boils down to personal preference and money. If you have a 4 Wheel Drive store near you, most have extra seats you can sit in to help you decide. The two must things to have though are seat sliders ( Bestop - Seat Track Slider Kit - Fits 1976 to 1995 YJ Wrangler and CJ - 4WD.com ) and tilt back. If you have to save some extra money to get what you want, by all means do so and don't settle for anything less.

Has anyone installed the MasterCarft Baja rs seats? Was wondering how much more they sit over stock. Was about to drop the $1200 on a set but don't want them to sit to high.

I will bet lunch that they will lift your but about 2" and move your belly 2" closer to the dash.

Do they breathe and are they waterproof? Will have to think about those.

Mine came with the Bestop Trailmax part deux. All vinyl - ouch. Only DD so they do alright as long as you don't mind a sweaty soaked back and butt. Is nice that they are waterproof and grease/coffee doesn't stain them.

Nomads are a rather coarse material that breaths quite well You will want to cover them at night as the foam will be wet and will take time to dry. The covers are reported to not be very UV resistant and should be treated acordingly. On a good note the seat cover can be removed and replaced quite easily , when the time comes. Not an option with injection molded seats.:chug:

If money isnt an issue, what about Bestop trailmax II reclining seats? I like the vinyl crush (39451) seats. Only thing is they do run an easy $275+ each. They are soft and comfortable. And have the reclining arm. However, for the price, I probably would go for Corbau or another better made brand.
Just some thoughts. Good luck.

Reclining seats in a CJ? Exactly how does THAT work. Remember there are wheel wells right behind the seat that won't move.

reclining is out and suspension seats are the best at absorbing the shock.

where do they recline? My seats have always been snug to the roll bar.

IO, there is a handle on the lower left side as shown in the pic and the back will tilt. They are well padded and probably best for a smaller individual. I think it would be quite a project to get them in a CJ5 . I did install the adjuster and it put me up way to high, so I just drilled holes for the seat location. A smaller diameter steering wheel helps also.
