so i swapped from narrow track axles to wide track axles. i did installed the higher upper shock mount on the front but now i'm left with this? do i install the shocks into the mount on the frame or do i cut off that mount and install them on the leaf spring plate??? they're stock shocks on a jeep with no lift

With the wide track axles there are lower shock mounts welded on the axles as shown in your pic. The frame mounted upper shock mounts that you installed go with the axle mounted lower shock mounts. The shocks for the '76-'86 CJs with narrow and wide track are the same.

If you wheel, cut off the axle one and use the one on the spring plate and buy the appropriate length shock.

No sense limiting your travel unnecessarily.

If this is a street Jeep then it probably doesn't matter.

As for now this is a street jeep but that's a good idea for down the road. Thanks

There is no such thing as a street Jeep. Even hard core Mall crawlers are just waiting for the next owner, There are patient Jeeps.:D

How ever, there is such a thing as a street Hummer.
