My wife asked me the other day," Hun, why don't we just get a new Jeep?" thinking that this was some sort of a compromise. In her mind, I would have a Jeep still, and she would hear less cussing, spend less on parts, and have a cleaner garage. After a I calmly and respectfully asked if she had hit her head lately to even think of such a thought, she asked "Why a CJ then?". I replied because its nostalgia, pride of owning an original Jeep, and the it epitomizes the true concept of Jeep.

For all you readers: Why a CJ?

Why a CJ?
Wow what a loaded question
I mean I can see if you wanted a jeep with modern suspension that was a rock crawler, or had that competitive I have to measure my *(&^% every time I go wheeling attitude not wanting a CJ for a more modern Jeep. But I think I am way over that phase. My Tj was locked and loaded and quite impressive offroad, but onroad it was a pig.
So I am back into CJs, Why? Well they are cool, they look cool, they have history, they are a thing of pride to pull up in, You do not need a science degree to work on them. but most of all since the last CJ rolled off the line in 86, nothing has been able to catch the look of a CJ. Hands down they are the best looking jeeps ever made.
I know that bigger than 33s, and a lot of thetimes even 33s are hard to get under them, I know that they will never flex like a TJ or JK, I know they leak, seap, drip, rattle, and over all are kinda beast. but they are a vehicle that calls to you, they capture your heart like nothing else, and once you have owned one and got rid of it, you are no longer complete till you have another.

Simple, I wanted a jeep, not a mopar.

Same reason I heat with wood instead of gas, use linux not windows, carry a 1911 rather than a glock. I'm not just alive, I'm living!

I think this is the main part of it. I had the chance to buy a CJ when I was 16, but alas, my father never got the Jeep thing, so it wasn't meant to be. My first Jeep was a TJ, and I loved it, actually cried when I sold it. I had always longed for a CJ, so it was finally the chance I had been waiting for.

It is more like an obsession. I think about it all the time. I thought about switching to crack cocaine but that is less expensive. I love my Jeep.

it was free :D

WOW! Why a jeep? Well in my opinion jeep's are a piece of history that will never go away. Jeep helped win wars and battles. So they will always be a part of history, with that said having a cj and keeping it running and on the road you have a time capsule. For some of us that rounded fender flat windshield, flapping top, sometimes cold in the winter and hot in the summer time is somewhat, no very enjoyable. So why a cj, simple - "We Love It!". Its part of the family and part of us!

cjs are the heart and soul of jeep LONG LIVE AMC ERA JEEPS

I've got the Last CJ an 86 I love it. Easy to work on Yeah I have
a 05 TJ Rubicon too. But something about that CJ gets me everytime.
I've had YJ's don't like the grille.

Do a grill swap, that's what I did, funny part is it helped the resale, LOL.

All of the above.
History, unique, simple, my dawg loves it.
It's such a bad assed machine. Rattles,& all.

Plus, my CJ is more American than most things i own. My fault there.

Its the best machine to learn on and build on :D im finally gonna get time for mine now that the wedding is over!

if you buy a new jeep you will probably wont work on it that much.. your either replacing sensors or getting a shop to do something weird to it. (not that involved)

if you buy a CJ you get more respect, you get to work and toy with it, you get to be involved with your jeep and get to know it part for part, they have personalities, and you learn to be a real jeeper and not just a guy that owns a jeep.
