No.
They are longer and flater. That's why YJs are lower than cj7s.
They will give you a better ride though.

If you are gonna do the swap, go with @ 2" lift Y.J. springs- stockers are pretty flat. I just put 2 1/2" lift Y.J. springs on my 77' and I love em'. All of the parts for the swap are stock Jeep pieces- just switched around a bit- rear springs swap right in, but with the fronts you need 2 rear C.J. shackle hangers, they are the proper width for the Y.J. springs, and 1 Y.J. spring plate for the front pass. side, and a C.J. rear pass. side spring plate for the front driver side. Depending on your net lift, you may need shocks and brake lines, but it is well worth it.

Buuuushman how much lift do you think thoes springs gave ya.?
Sounds like you really like the new ride, is it really that much better?

Thanks Bush thats kinda the plan. I'm ordering a 2.5 inch YJ lift and a front shackle reversal kit for CJ to YJ springs. This should handle the shackle problem.
I was just wondering if it'll lift me 2.5 or somewhere around 2 inches. I'd like to keep it low. Really Im just redoing the suspension cause the beast rides like a TANK.
The spring plates I know will be an issue because of the sway bar mounts. Your spring plate plan sounds pretty simple. Does that cover the sway bar mounts?

Well, my stock springs were pretty flat, bending about 1" back from the eye- and with 7 leaves they were a kidney killer- you felt a mongoose turd when you hit it. Any kind of washboard dirt road or patched up asphalt would float you right off the road. The 2.5 lift Y.J. springs are much more forgiving, and they gained me @ 6" more clearance in the fenderwells from my worn out stock springs. I don't know what the stock springs were like new cuz I was only two years old when my beast came off the line, but I figger they were still pretty stiff. The only thing I may want is a aftermarket sway bar cuz there is more body roll in the corners, but that is questionable cuz I don't drive like an <-BAD WORD->. They sure are more flexible tho- and I am looking for suggestions on extended shock mounts for the front, I need more up travel than I have now.

My 77' did not have a factory sway bar, but there are Y.J. spring plates with the sway bar mounts. I personally believe the shackle reversal is more trouble than it is worth, there are alot of considerations\ mods to make it function properly but I know there are alot of people here that think the opposite. Guessing from the brake lines and front end geometry, I gained @ 3 inches from stock, but it was a used spring set from the local off road shop so it's all ball park.

Buuush you can gain app. 2-3" with the ford shock towers. maybe more if you have the even shorter stock mounts.

I did a M.O.R.E. SR with O.M.E. 2-1/2" springs. Put a Dana 44 in the front as well.

Love it. Lots of droop. Worth the effort. :D

On the road, I run front and rear sway-bars with disconnects.

I was wondering about the Ford towers, they looked taller than that but it sounds like a good solution to my issue- thanks alot.
P.S. My 77 has the super short shock mounts- if anyone has the 82'- later C.J. shock mounts I will buy them- they are not an aftermarket item and not available through Jeep-

Bush did you have to weld rear spring hangers to the front? I need new springs my stockers are sagging bad but I can't weld for :dung: so unless it can be a direct bolt in thing..... I am kinda teetering between just getting 2 inch cj springs or 2 inch yj springs

Ya I welded them, you need to relocate the front shackle hangers an inch forward of the stock location. One of the original holes works for the rear but the front needs to be welded or drilled/bolted.
