Anyone run their wiring harness inside the tub? Thought this would be a great way to keep it clean

Which part?

73-75 ran the rear harness inside over the left rear wheel housing and dropped through the wheel housing to the LH tail light. Then follows the rear crossmember to the RH tail light.

Well :dung:, I thought maybe I was the first person to have this bright idea

I'd rather throw a plank across the rad. support rods, disconnect what I need to, and go to town on the underhood harness, than have to squeeze under the dash in my CJ. I have YJ seats and sliders, too.

You could relocate the starter solenoid to the interior, if you wanted. Even to a small box in the "bed" or rear footwell. (maybe build a box inside the wheelwell)

Same with the alternator voltage regulation circuit. Stereo folks do this and even relocate the rectifiers. Looks clean, too.

Of course, it's not a "one wire setup". ;)

A majority of ignition stuff could go under the dash too, (or behind the seat...)

The late-frame CJ's have a "hollow frame" where you could hide a bunch of wiring if you wanted.

Everyone builds their Jeep differently. The simple fact we build and share what we figure out and learn is great.

The fact newbies and old-timers can still learn from each other (who here under forty can adjust points ignition?) is :chug:

I'm liking the under dash ideas. I'm thinking one big wire loom running right down the middle of the cab to the rear.

All YJs run the rear tail light wiring inside the tub to the rear from the factory...

rear tail light wiring inside the tub

My CJ7 is like that. Seems stock to me. Where else would it be?

I'm re doing the wiring in my CJ5 right now and I ran the loom for all of the back (brakes, signals, fuel gauge, etc) along the inside of the frame just above the brake lines.
