Check the frame for rust. The body "looks" OK in the picture. It should be worth the money. The Chevy conversion is nice, especially if it has an turbohydro adapted to the Transfer Case . Definetly will take a lot of time and money if you want a beauty. If you are looking for an off-road vehicle that is low cost to get running, this could be a bargain.

what I am about to say I am doing in all interest of helping you
I figure if you are asking if a 900 dollar body is worth it you have no idea of what it will take to rebuild that puppy
OK, buying a jeep PROJECT means you are buying someone elses problems he has no knowledge of how to fix.
that is 1963, the first problem you are going to have is that the pedals do not hang off the firewall. the go under the floor and if you do not have the original drive train you will have to make some place for them to mount because they used parts that connected to the Transmission for the clutch to turn on. also the master cylinder hangs off the frame and has no room for major modifications to bring up to a 2 stage system unless you know some tricks. Your next problem is he has v8 mounts in there, so he suddenly realised that that is a pre 72 jeep and there is little to no room for a V8 under there unless you move just about everything and do a re engineer job to almost anything. third problem you will have is that almost every PART FOR THAT THING WILL EITHER HAVE TO BE A MAJOR ADAPTATION OR SOURCED FROM SPECIALTY STORES.
AND THAT IS JUST THE BEGINNING.
If you are asking if it is worth it, I would buy it and have enough spare parts around my personal jeep junk yard (My wife call it the back yard from hell) to build myself a new Jeep, however if you have never rebuilt a early CJ and have no spare parts around, and have no knowledge of vehicles designed before 1953, then NO, it will only cost you money and you will end up selling a broken dream.
Im almost done with my CJ rebuild. $500 for the Jeep and now about $3000 and 2 yrs invested. Mines a 83 CJ7 and I had 1/2 the parts in my yard for it. I was able to clean up the motor instead of the rebuild I thought it was going to need but the Transmission is not in the best shape. In stead of rebuilding the axles I had a spare set I used.
Moral of the story is if you have a large tool box, filled with alot of specialty tools, a welder, engine hoist, four 6 ton jack stands, torch, and alot of OLD.. OLD CJ knowledge and a deep pocket then it might not be that bad. Ive built Jeep that others have torn down and sold in boxes with out any worries but building a pre 76 one Scares me. you are probably looking at atleast 5gs worth of motor/Transmission fab and body work. you can grab a good CJ for that much or a better project.
a local guy just sold a 7 with a fuel injected 4.0 rot free just needed it finished up for less then 2 grand. I would look around for a better deal.
