Hello fellow jeepers. I had the opportunity to try out a great low tech tool today. I read back in the 90s about the More Power Puller from Wyeth Scott and after 2 decades of procrastinating I finally purchased one. I was going to be in the area so I stopped by their headquarters and they were gracious enough to give me a tour and thoroughly explain their product. I ended up purchasing the 3-ton unit with 35ft of amsteel synthetic rope. That rope is amazing. The folks at Wyeth Scott showed me a unit that had its safety bypassed and was loaded beyond its point of fatigue. The 1/4" thick steel drum cracked before the rope did. That's some amazing strength out of a piece of rope that weighs less than 5lbs! I purchased the unit with the sole purpose of loading a 400lb+ gas grill on my trailer and for the occasional "oops! I shouldn't have taken that path" trail ride. But, wouldn't you know it a week later my pivot ball goes out in my tranny and leaves me stuck at the bottom of my drive way. Being too proud to ask the neighbors to help me push it back into the level garage, I grabbed my puller. I hooked the unit to the back wall of my garage, strapped an old pallet behind the jeep to act as an emergency wheel chock if something went wrong, and took the door off so I could get to the e-brake quickly if it came to that. Ratcheting the level was no walk in the park, but it wasn't fatiguing either. I took about 10 minutes to haul the jeep from the bottom of the driveway to the top (about 25 feet). I'm really impressed and will definitely be carrying this with me on all my outings.
