Hi folks. You can see on my avatar what I'm driving but I'm thinking of adding a 2.5" lift and maybe 3/4 - 1" longer shackles. A few questions:

  • Who has the softest springs? Looking to improve the ride while I'm at it.
  • Will I need anything else other than the kit & shocks (will this lead to problems elsewhere...gearing, steering, etc?
My Jeep is driven on the road only and I plan on keeping the 33" tires. My manual steering is pretty tight. Since this is pretty much for looks and ride only I don't want to open a can of worms that costs more $ than its worth or sacrifice what is a good driving CJ.

Thank you all.

are your existing springs good?
if so why change them how many tears are in them if its more than 3 remove the smallest it should soften your ride
if you want 2.5 lift get 2 pair daystar 2 1/4 shackles 4 shocks and its done no messing around with everything and a little cheaper

IMO a big shackle lift is a bad idea, it puts your caster out of adjustment and it will drive like :dung:.
If you have to lift it 2 1/2" do it with a good spring lift, you usually don't have to many problems with that little of a lift.

I'm with Old Dog and would avoid a shackle lift especially concidering you want to retain your street maners.
I here alot about Ol Man Emu springs as being a nice ride but I think there system is 3"-3.5" total lift. Rubicon Express makes a 2.5" kit that I would concider, They are a nice product and have tephlon sliders between the leaves to make them work better.
