Are the YJ and CJ rear leaf springs the same? I know the fronts are different, but I am wondering if I can get away with just ordering new front YJ springs and reusing my rear CJ springs.

They are the same width but I THINK they are 1" longer. They will be a different weight rateing too.
IMO I would buy a set of 4. I've never swapped to yj springs though, so only an opion.

You will need new mounts for front YJ springs on a CJ.

The rears will bolt up.
The CJ front spring are narrower & shorter, also generally CJ spring are higher rate.;)

Mine are 4" YJ's all around, but with Add a leaves in the rear.;)

I know about the fronts being narrower, I already have plans of switching the fronts to the YJ springs, but I was hoping to get away with not buying rears as well. Everything I have seen for full width kits show you being able to use CJ rears or YJ springs. I don't think I'll need the add-a-leaves in the rear, as I don't have as much back there as you do, Longhorn. If I only need to purchase the front leaves, then the accompanying hardware, that will save me a bit of money. I just don't want to sacrifice too much for that.

The plan was to have springs made to fit this rig, but finances got in the way.
So the Add A Leaf was partly to even out the Jeep, but also to increase load carrying.
I often run two back seats so I can carry the clan.:D
Plus a twenty gal. gas tank, 38"X15.50" radial & a 60" High-Lift.

That why I tihnk i am just get the front springs for now, and if it doesn't sit right, then I will have to get new rears as well. But I can at least try it. No loss if it doesn't work out.
