Anybody use the YJ heater box and controls? I have a YJ tub on mine and was looking at the heater assy and wondered if it was better than my old CJ unit. I have already done the blazer motor swap

CJ and YJ heater boxes are pretty much the same. Where you've already done the Blazer swap, It's about as good as you're going to get.

The YJ box has a little air splitter at the bottom to move heat to both sides, that's a nice option.

I'm thinking about swiping that to mount under my CJ box, guess it's time to start working on the fire wall

The connectors are different, the CJ has 2 5/8 hose connectors,
the YJ 1 5/8 and one different, don't know the size, but discovered
it when I wanted to replace my unit...
Just to check before replacing the whole unit...

The later 7's had a 'splitter' for the heater's blower. Had to block off part of the vent for the D/S because my right foot was get'n HOT. :D

I'd have to agree with LG. With heat on high and fan on high my heater will run you out of the jeep. I guess all systems are not the same.

Yeah that makes me wonder, are you running a below spec thermostat or something? The heat in my jeep is great with the blazer swap but the piece of crud top / doors make it hot on bottom and cold on top when the weather turns.

Pull the defroster knob out about 1/2 way, and you'll get far better circulation of the warm air throughout the cab.

Yeah but then my feet are cold!!!

No, that solution is the best I've come up with so far. Still way, way better than before the blazer upgrade!

lol I ran my heater with the 6 cly engine many years ago it also had some really loose doors so I don't remember it impressing me much, I have the blazer motor upgrade in it now and plan to line the tub to get some insulation in it hopefully that will do the trick

:laugh::laugh: LOL well I used to enjoy driving the :dung: out my Jeep when it would snow in Memphis TN, I had 34-9.50 Super Swampers on it then. I do plan to travel with the Jeep to Montana, Colorado, Utah, Alaska and anywhere else I can. The AC and window tent is a bigger concern to me living in Texas tho :D

:chug::chug: its a long ride home over the mountain and thru the hills :D

Why not look into a Vintage Air heater? I bought the heater for my 70' CJ5 . It fit great, worked great and took up much less space under the dash! Worked great to defrost windshield and had vents to warm my feet and the cab.

Ya know, It may only be a rumor, but it is said that many "flatlanders" simply buy an inverter so they can plug in their electric blanky when the visit the mountains. Might be a cheap way to go.:pok:laugh:e:

I've been looking at those. I must have A/C where I live. You by chance have any pictures?
