I'm trying to piece together a suspension kit for my 1974 CJ5 ! I'm thinking of going 2.5" springs, either BDS, RE or OME spring packs?!! Do I have to replace (weld) wider spring hangers to my frame front and back? I was thinking of going with Boomerang shackles up front and maybe back because of the YJ spring length!! Also undecided if I will have to replace my stock spring peds on my diff to wider ones?

If anyone has this setup or knows about this conversion please share!! IDE rather weld on then bolt in... Either way it don't matter as long as I get the correct location for my hangers so I don't have to undo them and move back or forward is my concerns! Thanks
By the way it will be a SUA lift with 32x11.50x15 on stock Renegade Levi (Edition) aluminum mod rims!

If you are gona use 2.5" springs the hangers need to match and I would go straight to the large yj size bushings on the shackle ends. Boomerang shackles will get you nowhere, they are designed to clear frame rails on the yj jeep and offer no advantage in trying to use a longer spring.
Think about it, the shackle could be a Z or any other shape and all that matters is the eye to eye dimension.

The main thing is to keep the center of the axles where were.

This will avoid driveshaft length issues. I used one of the old spring hanger bolt holes then welded after verifying the fit.

I used all fronts. IIRC the YJ rears are longer.

If your concerened about the length of the YJ springs pick up 4 (76+)CJ rears. They are 2.5" and leave the axle in the right area. You should change the axle spring mounts on the axles to 2.5" For the frame mounts again the 76+ CJ rear shackle moutns are 2.5" wide. I buy all my hard ware from Ruff Stuff. Id Rather get higher quality new parts then mess around with reusing shady CJ parts.
