I am thinking about doing the YJ spring on my CJ7 . I have stock YJ springs and am trying to stay SUA. since the springs are softer will this effectively lower the CJ slightly? Hard to find info with SUA setup. I don't really have the funds to do the SOA conversion properly. Anyone out there done this and know how it will affect the height with stock YJ springs basically in place of the stock CJ springs?

not sure about height, but if you google search for "CJ-Yj conversion shackles" , they may save you a little bit of trouble...

Quadratec sells a kit to put Yj springs in a CJ and it say you should get a softer ride.

I've read that stock YJ springs will be 1/2" taller than stock CJ, but we all know that you can't believe everything you read on the internet ;)

Yeah I've read that too. But it was unclear if they went SOA. guess I'll just have to try it and see.

Going SOA is going to give you way more then a 1/2 inch.

It's a pretty common conversion that folks make to be able to use wider springs in the front and more flexible yj springs. I have a set of 4 Old Man Emu springs for the rear of a yj just settin' in the garage waiting till I'm at that stage of my build.
As for ride height, I can't give you any apples to apples comparison. I believe I've heard it both ways that people either gain a bit or loose a bit, but it all depends on what else comes into play, ie: new tires, hd shackles, comparing old sagging springs to the new ones, etc.
As for the conversion, it seems cheaper to piece the parts together yourself. Basically you need wider front spring plates, yj bushings for the front, and rear CJ shackles for the front.
