I wanted to start this rebuild right from the start. I picked up this 1960 CJ5 on 12-3-11 got in running and took a few test drives around the yard and now it's time to start the tear down. My plan is to take it down to the frame and start the rebuild.

Looks good, can't wait

Are you going all stock? That Jeep will look great with a period correct restoration.

My plan is to keep it 100% stock down to the steel wheels and the 6.00x16 tires. I also have the factory steel top and doors that will be going back on it when it's finished. It is going to be a slow project but that is fine since I have my 66 to drive around in. :)

I am envious........! I can't wait to see the from start to finish!

I will be starting the tear down this weekend. I will be taking a few hundred pictures on this project as it looks like everything is original and I want to do this one over correctly. :)

The plan for today is drop the wife off at the airport and start the tear down. I want to get the front end off today as well as the wiring under the hood and under the dash I will post pictures tonight.

Wise move to get her out of the country beforehand. Most men dont think of this move until the damage is already done.

Looking forward to seeing this. :)

I never thought of it that way. Good point I had the complete garage all to myself. :D

then who will go get you beer?

A very good question it's a good thing the small Ref in the garage is always kept full.:chug:

Update # 2 I got the tub off of the frame today and started to clean off 50 years of dirt and old grease. Next step is to pull the engine and Transmission then start to sand blast the frame.

now the fun starts
this is where I buy a :dung: load of zip locks and a sharpie to keep bolts organized.
