I need some help I have a Spicer 18 Transfer Case that I am taking apart here's my problem the output shaft and gear are chewed up the smaller of the two gears is stuck onto the shaft. Anyone have any good ideas on how to get the shaft out without damaging the case?:(

I am trying to visualize your problem, do you have front and rear yokes off? The gears are removed from inside the case after you pull out the shaft-correct? but will not because it's frozen. Can you apply some heat directly on the gear and persuade it with some prying between the two gears?

Hello Sasquach, i have the lower set of gears out of the case. I have both front and rear yokes removed from the output shaft. On the output shaft you have two gears one that is moved by the high/low lever and a smaller one the has the thrush washer and a c clip this is the gear that is stuck on the output shaft. I have tried a brass hammer to drive out the shaft also applied a little hest to the gear. I know I need a new gear and a new shaft I just need to get the shaft out of the case.

go to our links page and get the link to Herm the overdirve guy
go to his site and get his number and call him
he not only can rebuild one of those things blind folded, He can also sell you all the parts to rebuild it and any parts that may be destroyed in your case, or even a new shell.

OK problem solved one carbide coated saw blade and about an hour and the damaged shaft is out.:chug:
