I'm trying to replace my water pump on AMC 304 . Everything is saying it needs to be a specific pump for just 72. Have any of you 72 owners used a different pump with success or do I absolutely need this specific pump? Seems unusual it would be any different than 73 on. Help shed some light on this for me.
 
Some catalogs show 68 to 72 as being the same ans some show 68 and up working. I think it has to do with the holes in the puly. I have always just bought an AMC v8 pump and never even looked at the year.
 
Summit didn't like 72, but BullTear shows 72 to 91 with AMC 304 ??

But I havent found anything for my 74 that would not work for my Uncles 72...

I ordered from summit, even though it was listed as not compatible it fit like a glove. Installed and working great.
