1974 jeep seat/bracket

are there year models after 1974 CJ5 that may be compatible for me to put high back seats in and use my original brackets or would i have to purchase newer brackets

I welded a 3/16"x1 flat on some 76 CJ seats using stock 73 brackets which should be the same as yours. Not that tough if you some decent used ones. Just make sure the mounting holes are coming from the bottom rather than the side. Just less work.

I too had to fabricate brackets when I bought seats for my '79 CJ5 .
