1974 Points Ignition to 1985 Electronic Ignition - Help

My son and I swapped out the old tired points driven AMC 304 & Installed a AMC 360 with electronic ignition.

Our plan is to hook up the wires (we marked locations etc) and then see what we need to do to incorporate the ECM Dist into the system-tap the ECM into the '74's system.

Anyone have an idea or a diagram whereas we can tap in the distributor to the Jeeps system so we can run this thing.

I'm doing the same thing right now and decided to go with the D.U.I. distributor. Not cheap but simple and easy to install, just hook up the full 12v wire and you are in business.

You have to change out the control module. The old one (pre-77 I believe) is a boxy metal module (I have 2 lying around), and the Duraspark is the molded plastic edition used in '80's CJ's

My 401 was a '77 or '79 and had the old prestolite ignition. I had to change the distributor to work with my control module....that, or keep the prehistoric dizzy and swap to the older module. no-brainer there.

Rollbar, I would suggest going with the Team Rush Stealth HEI. I would think you have heard of it by now. Which has the big cap for less arc jumping around and the durable GM ignition control module. I can't seem to find the wiring diagram for it but, its out there somewhere. Otherwise, the Haynes Jeep CJ manual has a schematic of the Motorcraft ignition.
