1976 CJ-7: 304 V-8 with automatic transmission
High all,

I am new to the forum and Jeeps. I am attempting to get my bother CJ7 running and need a replacement carburetor. But I am not sure what to get. the jeep is an 1976 CJ-7, with a AMC 304 V-8 and automatic Transmission .

Any suggestions on a carburetor to buy that would work on this setup?

Cheers,
Scott

The stock carb for that engine was a Rochester 2bbl.
I used a Quadrajet on my 401 and loved it...they work pretty well with all V8's, but they are finicky as far as wear and tear. A worn throttle body shaft spells doom for these carbs.

The carb should be a Motorcraft 2150. Rebuild it; it’s about as good as it gets without spending $450 plus for a Truck Avenger. Holley does make a two barrel direct bolt on (not the Avenger) but it won’t have the same off road abilities that the 2150 does.

I've used a genuine Carter AFB on my 360 (to replace the Carter clone by Edelbrock that caught fire) and after dialing it in, have had no issues.
