hey guys, first order of business on my dad and i's father son project is a rewire. the ignition is frozen and there are no keys. the jeep is on a fiberglass tub and it looks like most of the stock wiring is there but its hacked and spliced we want to start from scratch.

looks like there are a few options on harness.
-painless (is it worth the $?)
-ez
-kwik

i have some basic 12 volt elec. experience and a fair amount of common scene but i'm by no means an elec engineer! any help, direction or personal experiences would be appreciated!!

thanks
andy

I am just about done an EZ re wire. I have very little experience and it has been super easy. And the price was a lot better than the painless.

Not sure what the part number was. I can check later tonight. I got a universal 21 circuit harness (too many circuits in retrospect) off of ebay. Like i said so far its working like a charm.

1978 and no keys means steering column tear down
which there is a few things you might want to check out while you are digging around in there
ignition "frozen" ??
Is the column still installed in the jeep?

post pics if possible

the column is still in the jeep and is a tilt column...i'll have to look but the i think the key was broken off in the ignition, or it was just frozen in place (not turning) i'll have time to take abetter look tonight.
