1979 CJ Brakes

My calipers are held by 2 bolts. The brake line and banjo fitting are in the way of removing that top second bolt to remove the caliper. To change the pads I had to remove the brake line, replace the pads and then bleed the system. Is there another way to do this? Seems ridiculous to remove the caliper you have to remove a brake line. Is there some trick to this?....Here is a pic....

it looks the same as mine, you don't need to remove the bolt, the bolt holds the bracket on, but the caliper comes off the bracket separately, there should be a square pin that the caliper is sliding on, on the top side of the caliper, well between the caliper and the bracket, this pin slides out with a little tap from a hammer and a punch, then the caliper lifts off. you should not need to remove any bolts.

This is on the bottom of the caliper. I took the allen bolt off...I have done plenty of brake jobs on various vehicles but I'm still stumped..

If you lift from the bottom of caliper up then pull bottom of caliper out and away from the bracket ..

sorry about my earlier post, i was thinking about old ford brakes, the piece that has the half circle cut out that the bolt holds, that slides out sideways, after the bolt has been removed, in your picture its already out, so just tap it out.

This is on the bottom of the caliper. I took the allen bolt off...I have done plenty of brake jobs on various vehicles but I'm still stumped..

Do you see that piece of metal between the caliper and the lower bracket?? If you drive that out, the caliper just lifts off.. It's a slide clip, and a piece of cake..

That clip has has a 90% bend at each end. Do I straighten one side and drive it out? I tried to get behind it and it wouldn't budge....

It'll drive out, it's spring loaded so not to fall out.. they're kinda weird...

Well I got it. It was frozen up so bad that I had to bring out the torches to heat it up. Caliper has seen better days so I ordered another and it will be in tomorrow. I noticed i have no spring clips on my pads. No wonder I was hearing a clicking noise when the brakes were no applied. Anyway the new caliper comes with all the hardware. In this link it comes with only one clip. Is this correct? If so , which pad does it go on?...

One per side that locks the caliper in place and keep in mind there is a Left & Right side part number.
