Build Thread 1980 CJ7...My new toy
Been a long time since I've updated, but the CJ7 is coming along!!! Got some 17" rims and mounted the tires off my JKU. Scored a complete Jeepair A.C. system for $500. Got new fenders, passengers side installed, and drivers side ready to install. Replaced all the gaskets on the upper end of the engine, and cleaned and painted engine and part of the engine bay. Had to weld a plate for the grill support before moving on. I also have a Transmission rebuild kit, new clutch kit and flywheel. The Dana 300 rebuild kit should be here this week. Also got everything to finally install my $25 original windshield frame. Got a winch ready bumper and winch for $200. Bumper is installed, winch will be soon.

Just read your build thread... looking great! Thanks for sharing with us.

The front end is pretty much complete! The A.C. system I got for so cheap was because it "didn't work" for the previous owner. When I was installing it, I noticed that the way the hoses where cut, he had to have had the condenser installed upside down. Got the hoses corrected for another $30. So, a complete Jeep Air A.C. system for a little over 1/2 price. Got the rest of the front end installed. Working on rebuilding the OEM heater box right now. Next up is the Transmission and Transfer Case . Since the radiator that came with it won't accept an original shroud, I ordered a 14" fan and relay for the condenser. If I have problems with cooling, I'll go with an electric fan for the radiator also.

About half way through rebuilding the Transmission and Transfer Case . Have the Transmission done, and the Transfer Case is torn down. Ran out of paint and cleaner, so will get some more tomorrow and carry on. I also have a clutch, pressure plate, and flywheel to install once this is done. I have a three day weekend coming up, so maybe I can get Brutus back on the road then!
