It's my best friend's husbands. He is restoring a 76 CJ5 , too. I believe he got it at HF for less than $200. I should have asked for one for Mother's Day!! And thanks for the luck on the tub. I'll probably need it!
So I got the hubby to pull the boat out so I could roll the chasis into the garage and start working on it. Got all the stuff pulled off the engine block (mostly) and am hoping to get an engine hoist today and get it pulled out. Moving right along...
It's a AMC 304 , and I am keeping it. My Dad had it rebuilt less than 5000 miles ago (but that was 5 years ago) so I am just stripping it down and cleaning it up.....at least I think that is what I am doing. It seems to change every other day! This is what I have accomplished today:
I took a break to eat lunch and then I am back at it. Will post more pics when I am done!
$45 an hour is obscene for the cutting/welding work you need done, if its "side work" for somebody. If you where In my neck of the woods, I could get it done for you by a Swedish Craftsman Fabricator for $15 an hour and he'd be thrilled for the work, and youd be thrilled with the results. Id re-shop that,...hard.
Ive sold rust free YJ tubs for less than $900 delivered to the Chicagoland area from Phoenix, if that helps you put things in perspective (guys use them for Cjs).
