1981 CJ7 258 stock
Just picked up an 81 CJ7 back in August and was planning on keeping it pretty stock and just keeping it around for a fun summer ride. Well the jeep bug has bit and I can't stop thinking about lift, tires, gears, lockers and rocks! I just picked up an 82 rolling chassis with 4" superlift, M.O.R.E. Reverse shackle kit, M.O.R.E. Extended shock mounts, rear 3/4 eliptical, wide track open Dana 30 , wide track tru-trac moser 1pc AMC20 . 4.10 gears.

The rolling chassis is in great shape, no rust or issues on the frame. My Dilemna is in what I want to do next. Do I swap everything from the 81 to the 82 chassis and take my time to do everything right or do I swap all the parts from the 82 to the 81 and call it a weekend?

If it were me, I'd swap the suspension versus the body and electrical.

I agree with hole. You never know how the suspension was put together until you dig into it. It's work but I would do it just for piece of mind. That way you know what every noise is when out on the trail.

It sounds like your really enjoying your keep. If you want to experience that feeling again anytime soon I'd put the suspension on the '81. You'll have to use the '82 shock towers also
