Starting to move the stuff into position to swap tubs. I picked up a RHD YJ tub in great shape down in VA as well as a honest to goodness CJ roll bar without rotted feet and am ready to pull the old one, fix up what needs to be done and then modify the new tub and mate it altogether.

Stay tuned.

Tailgate has been sold and the hood is not going to be used, the original will be, but all in all, this is the start of it, just have to move it into position this weekend in the shop and move some other things around for the winter.

I hope to work on in this weekend a little, next weekend and the week of thanksgiving in its entirety, we will see how those plans pan out.

I like it. I am curious about the pedal assembly Is it physically different than the LHD assembly or is it the same assembly just bolted on the opposite side? I ask because one of my dream project is a RHD cj but I want to make it manual.

You can kind of see them here... normal like the LHD ones.

This is a manual as well and it is a trip driving it... have to really think out what you are doing, say when you make a right hand turn, want to downshift and have to pull away from your body as you turn as the Transmission is a normal T-5 .

There aren't too many RHD CJ7 's in country... more Postals and Overlanders from what I have seen.

Did you pick this off of CL ? I seem to remember seeing one just like it somewhere on one of the north eastern Cl sites last year

He had it up for sale for a bit but is restoring it now.

I bought it in July 2013 and have had it since then.
I did post it up to see if there was anyone that "just had to have it", so I put it up for what I thought it was worth.

I have worked on it to get it running right as it wasn't before and patched up a few things and found missing parts from overseas.

I now intend to restore it if no one swipes it from me and then probably will end up keeping it unless the restored version garners more attention and I can sell it to work on something else.

Eventually I will sell it as I will need to get another Scrambler for my youngest as she really wants a Scrambler.... so either sell it or trade for one that is in decent shape type of thing.

Got it all moved into the workshop and started to pull some stuff off the tub. I haven't done much, but I will start in the next couple weeks, still trying to get ready for winter.

If i had the money when i found it on CL at the time, I would have bought this from you. I have always wanted a RHD CJ

There is always plenty of time to make more money ...
It will just cost more after I put more into it :)

Seriously, it needs that tub swap pretty bad, and I want to keep it all CJ, so I will have to do some mods to the new tub and repair a couple frame mounts and get new frame/body bushings along with probably new fuel and brake lines if I am going down that far.

That is the issue with the rabbit hole, you never know how far you have to go down.

Oh, and of course paint it back to original color and Renegade stripes... lol, $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

So, I have an original picture from the original owner from many years ago. It was inkjet printed on paper and is faded, but you can see that most of it is like the image in the book with a few differences.

White Wagon Wheels, not chrome
push bar was there as well, with a roll and lights
mirrors are chrome and not black like I have found, can't find those chromes
side moldings
side steps
soft top

So, I will attempt to preserve a lot of it, but I won't be running the molding unless I can find some cheaply, nor the side steps. The mirrors will differ and I will run the front push bar as well, but have it all painted up before it goes back on.

I will paint it the original color and do the stripe kit.

I have no idea why, but I can't get the pm to work... I click on the name and nothing happens.... is it because it is a rebuild thread?

I snapped up a couple quick shots before I left for the evening with my crappy cell phone camera. Work is progressing.

I was able to sneak out and power wash the whole new tub right before it got dark. Weather was like 55 degrees, not for long, so I wanted to get it done.

I got the feet of the new roll bar cleaned up and I started to take more things apart. I am going to sell off some parts as well and basically just try to get that tub off so I can see what is underneath.

I still am not receiving email notifications and my PM ability is not there, so I apologize if I don't respond quickly enough, I have to remember to come check, which is asking a lot with all I have going on.

Rusty nuts are really giving me fits... hard to get it all apart, but I did make it to the dump/recycler to help clean out the garage a bit and get rid of a ton of junk metal.
