I am looking to replace the wiring in my jeep. Where did you guys get yours? I am trying not to spend a lot of money, but these things look to be pretty expensive. My jeep has been changed a bit, like with all the smog stuff removed, HEI, and I think my carb is from an earlier CJ with no computer smog control on it. Will the changes impact what harness I should get? Thanks for the help. The previous owners of my jeep thought they were master electricians apparently. They weren't . . . .

Is that what you used? I just called them and they just sell universal kits. Trying to avoid doing that since places sell kits specific to our jeeps. I just don't want to get that and then ending up having to hack something together.

I have an emission exempt CJ so I gutted the original wiring and put a new ezwiring harness in mine. I've used them before on my hot rods so it wasn't a big deal to me. The jeep specific ones are just marked up universals with a few extra plugs you can harvest from the original.

The EZ kit is a good set up. Now ofth ends are preterminated so you cut every thing to length and make it how you need it. If you get a kit like painless itwill have all the ends cut to length with factory connectors on it. So things like ignitions wires would still be set up for the stock motor craft ignition. you can get a 12 fuse set up and it will work out great. I dislike myself so much Im going to make my own harness for my next project.

With the changes you mentioned, I would recommend the ezwiring. It will be easier than modifying a "jeep" harness and not cost 4 times as much.

Thanks for the help guys. My CJ has been changed a bit, like with the different intake from an older model, all smog stuff gone, etc. I currently have wires wrapped around other wires and none of them even go to anything,. Kind of funny, but now that my electrical sending units to my gauges all :dung: the bed at the same time, it seems like it might be a good idea to just do it all over, and do it right. Seems like the harness in the jeep has taken a beating since it rolled out of the factory. I will be replacing my electrical sending units with mechanical ones at the same time, but that is in a different thread. Thanks. :chug:
