The black oxide stuff looks really cool. Nice touch on the tailgate latches.

When the hell is your chassis and tub going to come back so we can start your raptor liner?

I’m hearing that black oxide can still corrode in the elements, so not sure on best application. I know where I’ve seen it, it’s been on bolt heads, but not sure if interior or exterior applications.

I did try a couple of sandblasted bolts, as sandblast is supposed to produce not as a rich color, but I found it to be the opposite. These bolts took the color really well, so might try for some interior pieces.

And spent a few more hours on my working my fender. My painter just keeps laughing at me at my slow pace, but he’s giving me some good pointers.

And while I was slowly working the fender and blasted out the same body work, and finish prime.

Tailgate looks awesome man. Mine didn’t come about that nice. I sanded the :dung: out of mine too.

I was thinking the black oxide might work well on the little plates with the three holes that mount the dash and windshield frame together.

Small updates, still very frustrated that I have no Jeep in my garage, but slowing crawling along with the painter. Parts getting to final prime.

It looks good but I do feel your pain. At least you can take some happiness in that you’re still further along that me.

Wow, I remember reading all the other build threads and seeing how much time would sometimes elapse between posts and then I see when I posted last. So first, small stuff,

Freshened up my rear seat that I picked up

Stripped cover, sanded down corners and brackets and hit them with Eastwood 2k. Hit the stud after pic was taken. Some good leather cleaner and she looked good. Also black oxides the seat spacers

Unfortunately lots of wet sand to go plus the dash, roll bar, hinges, and grill still to be worked and painted. But as long as I get tub I can keep moving.

Nice !

Masscj, your Jeep is really coming along and as I’ve mentioned your color is awesome. Cant wait to see this come together.

BTW, nice rear seat!

Very nice.

This day has been long in making, like Christmas Day getting her back. Glad I spent the extra on the extra wet sand labor.

Haha, skills is debatable, I do read and watch lots of videos and then dive in! I do credit a lot of it to the Google machine, but thank you

Almost ready to shoot. Got my tint and did a spray out to see what psi I liked. Going to go with 100 psi and the color match is pretty good. It’s dead on when it’s on the flop in the sunlight, but a little dark when on the straight view. This was my original spray out hood for color, so left hand color was the one I went with.

Well, the very first thing I can say is that Raptorliner maybe the most user friendly paint product I’ve ever used. Stuff shoots great even out of basic gun and you’re able to feather out drips or wet spots on subsequent coats.

The color match came out great too as I decided to half the amount of tint that I used in my initial spray out.

Now everyone will say how cheap it is and the kit itself is. But don’t forget about tape, acetone, scuff pads, mixing containers, drop cloths, masking plastic, wax and grease cleaner, adhesion promoter, etch primer etc. I’d say I have about $400 total invested. Maybe $475. Given that local Linex wanted $1100 and was going to be black only. I’m happy.
