1989 Jeep YJ - Number Two: Part 2

Polishing A TurdIs it possible that a vehicle can be inherently evil? There are rumors that Little Bastard, James Dean’s ’55 Porsche 550 Spyder, was cursed. Although fictional, Christine, Stephen King’s murderous ’58 Plymouth Fury, brings a few images to mind. Herbie the Love Bug makes us shudder with fear. Why do I talk about these possessed, evil cars? Well, it seems that Number Two, our ’88 Jeep Wrangler, is trying to follow suit. If we did not know any better, we’d say this thing wants to kill us. Maybe not kill us, but it does seem to be fighting us tooth-and-nail in our attempts to get it running reliably. We are starting to think it is enjoying being a lawn ornament. Wonder if it knows that the next step is being parted and hauled to the junkyard? Oh well, we will keep fighting the good fight fixing the damned thing up. Last time in Number Two Land, we attempted to get our cheap pile of YJ on the road and trail. This time we are gonna spend a bit more energy properly fixing issues we found last time in the hopes that this Wrangler can become part of the fleet and not just a source of used parts. Follow along as we continue to address issues and attempt to fix-up our ’88 Jeep Wrangler with a little help from our friends at Quadratec.
