Misc. 21 gal plastic tank

I need a new gas tank didn't know if I should go factory steel or the bigger 21 gal plastic tank. Seeing how there's no gas tank in it now and running a 5gal boat tank. I ran into an optical today that got me thinking. How much lower is the plastic tank and has anyone had a problem with it hanging you up.

I've heard (no personal experience) that depending on your suspension (amount of lift, etc) some people have had their rear diff hit the tank skid plate when using a larger tank that hangs lower. I recall reading that they hang about 4" lower than stock.

That's what I was thinking had to cross a drainage ditch yesterday. Didn't have my front driveshaft in it so had to hit the ditch harder than I normally wood and dragged my rear bumper. That's what got me thinking because there isn't any tank there now so not sure what 3lse would have it.

I'm looking at a larger tank as well, but I do a lot of highway driving and trails for camping/hunting. So nothing too extreme (ditches, rocks, etc), plus I have a 4" suspension lift and 35" tires. Don't believe I would have an issue for my circumstances.

Well don't plain on highway driving more of oversized 4-wheeler.
