needed tires to hold me over till my full rebuild. found a local set of 17x8 5x5.5 procomp wheels with 285/70/17 mud terrain tires for a decent price so I picked them up. a couple of observations: these were off a mid 90's full size bronco so the backspacing was more than I wanted. They fit my CJ but can rub the front springs at full lock. the rears clear the springs by about 3/4" on each side. The tires are E load range 10 ply and make my ride even worse than before and worse than I ever thought possible. Even with 18-20psi they are rock hard on the light weight jeep. if the wheels had a bit less backspacing they would fit great, as they are now the tires are slightly tucked with none sticking out past the factory flare. I think 285/70 translates to something slightly less than 33" so I have no fitment issues related to the height of the tire. Overall, I am happy. I gave $400 for the set. My jeep looks much better and I an safer than driving around on 10 year old dry rotting rubber.
