I have mis matched tires for my jeep. There are three that are directional and two that are not. They have great tread on them but the mismatch bugs the hell out of me. I want to go with all new tires but am in a delemma with the size and type. I'd love to put 35's on but I just don't do my wheelin. I'd say that it will be 60/40 street wheelin. So I'd hate to put a off road tire when a highway tire would do. I've also thought about saving these mud grips and just get new tires and wheels then swap them out. mud grips for hunting season 35 highway tires for everyday driving.

you want 33s, once you put 35s on it gets to be a beast and the street friendly leaves you, with 33s it still streets real good

I went from 33s to 35s (13.5s) and had to lift another 2" and hack on my wheel wells for clearance. It was worth it to me, but only because I use my jeep primarily for off road

GO BIG OR GO HOME!!!:chug:

I run 33's. I was thinking of running 35's my last tire purchase. But I would of had to do a body lift and more wheel well and inner fender trimming, then it would have been to tall to fit in my garage. 33's work for me and the wheeling I do.

GO BIG OR GO HOME!!!:chug:
Amen :D
I jumped from 33's to 36's and love the increase in my rig's capabilities offroad.
It handles the same at highway speeds as it did with the 33's...but gearing would play an issue with a smaller engine in the git up and go department.

What kind of gearing do you have in the diff, is it low enough to pull those big meats with the AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l in it now? Going any higher in tire size also will put more strain on the driveline. I have a AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l 4.10's and 33" and this seems the prefect match for on street use and off road. Also are you willing to do all the extra cutting and mods to have the clearance. Its up to you. Also Goodyear makes a great tire Durtracs thats what I have and I like them a lot. Mine are 33/12.5/15. Just my .02

I had a similar question and I decided to go with 33s. It comes down to how much work you want to put in to your CJ. Either tire size will require lower gearing to run efficiently. I went with 4.10s on my '84 for 33s. I could have gone with 35s, but they will sacrifice some road manners and require additional mods. A 4 inch suspension lift is not enough for 35s on a CJ. 35s may need cutting, a shackle lift, a body lift, etc. I just didn't want to go crazy on a Jeep that will be driven on the street a lot. If I owned a trail only jeep I probably would have gone with 35s. :chug:

Here is my CJ on 35's I'm spring over with a 1" body lift only reason I had to do the body lift Was to allow room for my tranny selection.

35's are doable without any body trimming but you Would Probably need new gears so That's more $ vs running 33's witch should fit with minor modification

Very nice.... Like I said, Go Big or Go Home...:D

I think 33's look perfect on the CJ7s. Not too big not too small. I had to space mine out so that they give me better turn radius.

i have 36'' with plenty room to go bigger BUT I want to lower and get 33"

Its all personal opinion.

At this time in my life 36" with plenty room to spare isnt real practical for me. Id rather have a little lift with 33" and save the massive tires and such for an off road specific vehicle later on. but im lazy and already have brand new 36" tires so thats the way it will be for now haha at least it looks cool

I think33's is the maximum size before the "too big look". Like you said, it's all personal opinion. In my opinion, the fender's wheel opening shape should somewhat match the tire's shape. If you look at the rear fender, you can see how the shape looks way too small with anything over 33s.

My air grinder with a cutting wheel changes history :D:cool:

I went with 35's. I still have the 33's for whatever reason.

They make good tire swings...:D

35'S ROCK!!! lol..

They just give a Jeep that look... you know, that "Oh ya! It can go through that! And over that! OOOH YAA!!" :D
