im helping a friend get his jeep going when he got jeep he had paper work in his truck and they broke into truck and stole paper work and plates we are looking for a vin on it to get it titled vin plate is gone off firewall where is it located on frame ?

on my '74 its stamped over the right tire on the upper side of the frame.
I have heard some are stamped over the right rear tire, also.
Don't know about anything earlier.
