Hi, newbie here and in the process of redoing a '64 CJ3b . The goal is to use a combination of savable parts along with what's available in the aftermarket. I've purchased a set of "16 wheels from Omix Ada and was wondering what size tires would work best (6.50, 7.00, 7.50). I'm using new, stock springs.

TIA

The way I see it there are a few things to consider for choosing tire size. Like what you can get to fit, The type of driving you will need them for, like are you looking for a lot of ground clearence and traction, Do you have enough power to handle the tire size? and is your driveline strong enough to support that tire size. Along with what rpm you will be at when cruising. Aluminum wheels will help with a heavier tire. You could get further answers by stating what engine, Transmission , and differential gear ratio you have. The older CJs with the narrow track differentials that you have might need to adjust the turning radius stops as not to hit the leaf springs.

Thanks! You ask great questions and that is the beauty of these forums. I'm using the stock steal wheels from Omix Ada. I believe they are 16 x 5.5. I'm keeping the jeep as stock as possible. It most likely will never see off road, maybe a little sand so gound clearance is not an issue. I don't want to use military style tires but looking for more of an old school snow tire look. I'm not looking to use inner tubes either. I've read some folks are having handling issues with 7.50's and was just wondering if that common and should stay smaller. The Jeep will have all stock drive train, standard 134 CU engine.
Thanks again for your response. Look forward to others as well :)

Stock rims were 16x4.50
The biggest factor is the Ross steering.
If your looking to keep stock I would go with 6.00 or 6.50
That tires size with a stock step up would work very well off road as well.
